on schedule, an adult beverage to celebrate
notice how high the boat floats/sets in the water?
the boat and motor are a little lighter than "some" people thought huh?

everything ran good
after hr #4 I was allowed to go to 3K RPM whick meant in gear, on plane:eek: :D ;)
My foot slipped and it went just a tad past that and all I can say is, "HOLLY CRAP" does this thing have some balls!!!!
P.S., sorry about my foot slipping Al.
If I can get the last 5 hrs of break in done and "Re" learn how to drive this thing:D :D

Nice job Gary.

Barry, no. Neutral
Very interesting procedure and I'm doing my best to follow it to the "T".

MXZ, for sure.
That is a long, long ways away though. I plan on spending the next 5 hrs of break in giving myself driving lessons but those kinds of speeds are still quite a ways away.

Dual breakins going on.

Mine got 1.5 hours idle breakin on the hose (several cool downs in between), 10 gal of on plane off plane 3-4k rpm max. Going out today to do 10 more gallons of 4-5k rpm with short bursts to 6k torward the end of the breakin.

Timing low and jetted fat. EGTs 750-800, approx 30:1 oil mix. All cylinders coming up nice on the compression although exact numbers are classified :D You'll see soon enough :)

This weekend B.Mac and I will be wringing it out, make or break.

Finished last night, several 1/8th mile blasts to 6200rpm (from there it 4-strokes with the over-rich jets). 950 on the EGTs. Feather-weight pistons/pins/rods holding up like a champ so far.

I installed the race/lightweight and noticed even more acceleration. Didn't think I would notice it at all. Comparing to the stock 235, it accelerates so fast you'd swear something is gonna come flying off :D Boat is an absolute monster out of the hole, no hesitation or bog at all, very pronounced torque/twisting of the hull out of the hole.

racer - It seems to love timing, I wonder if I could go over 24 for short drags. I can get 112 octane, a little slower burning than the 110 but made for higher compression motors.

To much timing will hold back the top rpm, the acceleration you are feeling is the head confiquration, light parts help but flow is more important.

Weather was ****, and was trying to beat a storm but got about a mile in @ 3K-ish RPM;) The thing is definatley a freagin monster though!!
I am idling hotter than what you told me and I have'nt had the time to diagnose yet.
Almost called you but knew you'd say to shut it off and that was'nt an acceptable solution at this long drawn out and dissapointed state!

Jeff, you're on brother!

RRRevinrude, you're on too.

Dave, maybe a boat ride next time you're in town??

The only thing that would surprize me -

If the Frankerude turned out to be a oinker.

I am not planning on that - so - I am in the process of installing the kitchen sink in my 19. Already had everything else.

And another thing - If Warby does not step up to the plate, the Frankenrude will have to go a couple of laps with the eagle. Spent the day at the Hydrolic shop today having all new Stainless lines made for everything.
http://airmasterstab.com/Et-142.jpg

Back home with new tank and floors all in and new wheels and tires.
http://airmasterstab.com/Et-144.jpg

Engine in and ready for trim shop by Monday. Running the following Friday. That gives me a week to tune it for Gator bait.

Looks like a perfect candidate for a GE t-58 turbine.Dave

LakeTrash
07-16-2003, 07:34 AM
On pump gas. Add 200 hp of methonal injected NOS and it should be ready for the Frankenrude.

The GE T58 was the first suggestion that came from Arneson. That would have required a new drive and gear reduction unit. Add the turbine and it was just too much money.

Besides it is a 1970 & I thought it should get something that was kind of from that era. That is also why I went with a tunnel ram and two 660's instead of fuel injection.

See ya'll in Carrolton.

Great Idea, I relly enjoy seeing period correct stuff. 70 style motors on 70 style boats. 50 style motors in 50 style cars, ect.

What gear ratio you runnin' ?

Awesome!
Can't wait to see and here that piece of history run!!
We need a video of that.
Let's see---- 569 HP's + 200 from juice going thrugh 2 sets of "u" joints half a dozen right hand turns on its way to the prop, that should give you what, about 75 MPH's :D
Gary

LakeTrash
07-16-2003, 08:02 PM
1 to 1

STP is standard on all my 4 strokes. 1 pint to each quart of 90 weight.

If that formula holds true for the Eagle it should hold for the Frankenrude. Lets see, 175 hp at the crank, no that is a little optimistic, make that 171 at the crank, various bends and turns should give about 74 MPH. Should be a hell of a race.

I could be wrong but....

I thought LT's Eagle was initially to be a grudge match specificaly between him and another Big Block powered boat of Ken Warby's but Ken didn't get ready in time??

Other than that it is still Outboards only participating, I/Os I'm sure will be on the river for pleasure, spectator, rides for the kids etc. but there will be no pitting of outboard powered boats with I/O powered boats. (Other than the Eagle of course :D )

Everyone is welcome! But, only outboards can compete in the events. The deal with the eagle if I remember is a bet between Lake Trash and Ken Warby.

Remember this is an outboard event but for a good cause. I don't think anyone is not welcome.

The original deal was with Ken. I do not know at this moment what he is up to.

Last thing he told me was if he could not get the Skif ready, he would kick my ass with something else. He would not give up any info on what the something else might be.

The Rumble was and is for outboards. I will be bringing my 19 to do battle and the ET will be for show and whatever else I can drumb up - a circle race with Gator comes to mind.

This Rumble is one of, it not, the largest social boating event of the year. It wouldn't bother me one bit to leave the boat at home, I would still be there. If all I had was a pleasure IO and knew what the Rumble was about.....I'd still be there:cool:

Very good class!
Everything and everyone is welcome as spectators.
O/B's for participation only.
That is one of the biggest things that seperates the Rumble from most other events.
Rare iron like LT's is something else and he has one get out of jail free card until I kick his ET's ass with my little O/B:eek:
That started as a $500. bet with a certain Mr.Warby who has mysteriouslly dissapeared so i guess he loses by forfit:D
Course, don't be surprised if he shows up with the mother of all go fast toys, and gets it wet;)

LT, 1/4 mile oval, 1 lap and I get a 5 boat jump
P.S., can't wit to see your friends DCB. Never been close enough to one to drool all over it before. Tell him thanks for coming, for me O.K.?

I was hoping to see LT and Mr. Speed to do the tango, I guess we'll have to wait n sea.

I noticed "Banned" under Woodco's name, what does that mean?

Instigator
07-18-2003, 09:10 AM
Racer, been thinking that from day one.
Not this year though. I'm afraid of too many people with lack of gray matter trying it and ending up in trouble if you know what I mean??
The PBCC tried at one of their get togthers last year (main event blown out due to weather) and I wanted to try it bad was'nt ready in time.

LT,???? 1 mile, 5 laps??? I think I could do that:eek: Only thing that scares me is your wake!! Oh yeah, and no, 5 of your boats.
That means I'd have to move like 5 feet and I'd be at the finish line:D

Sleekster, you bringing a boat?? re. Woodco, he evidntly was accepting peoples money and forgetting to send them their goods:mad:

HiFyer, I noticed, and if I thought it would work I'd almost do it.
It would be a bad to dah bone idea for Rumble IV though wouldn't it??
Ed made a good point too.
Most of the current Warp speed boats are X Mod VP boats.
Hummmmmmmhhhhhhh? ;)

Maybe the next level for the Rumble??
The return of the "real" ModVp??
The river is the perfect place for a "Sprint" race and a "Marathon"!

I talked with Rachel tonight, and she wants to work to save for college and her Florida vacation the week after the Rumble....ok maybe NOT in that order! So, Jackie will either take a friend or pass on the trip...if the kids pass, Faye say's she'll pass...that leaves me. Reminiscent of Rumble #1 .... I might just ride the bike. I have a 1/2 point to do a pitstop. 640 miles even on a stretched cafe' style is a hard thing. I did 387 miles in 95 degree heat a couple of weeks ago and the last 60 miles were hard ones. Or I might bring the boat.....long way for a just me boating thing. I could fit a bunch of people if there's need for Make-a-Wish rides. Where's the sign-up?

Soooooo, the answer is: "I'm not sure, now". Stay tuned.

I did hear of two Woodco deals ...neither was good. Selling a "working " motor that didn't have a rectifier, working tilt-n-trim, was 3 years older than initially reported, could NOT be turned-off, had a bad bendix, wrong starter, worn teeth on the flywheel, and had a small pin and a large bore at the top of the tilt ram...not even bushngs to fill the gap, leaky carbs....hummmmmm, am I forgetting anything? Oh yeah, leaving someone sitting for HOURS to get the thing w/o a call......

Good for Greg in doing a clean-up.

Your boat looks way good n I am impressed with the way the boat floats. I never had my King floating like that and they were made to float a little better. If I win a lot of money or a merc motor to sell, I might just have to ask you how you lightened the 3.0L

I bought more parts to put a counter-rotating motor together....got a setback that I can modify to give more setback for the Sleek.

I still have the hydraulic steering to install. Problem is, it runs now, and when its sunny, I want to go out on it, not work on it.

I need to get a ride in the Sonic. N u need to ride in the Sleek.....

At the Rumble, I'll

I'll keep you posted. If the ladies bail, it sounds like a great plan. I'll talk with Jackie today, and I'll let you know when I know something.

The Supra could pull an STV.....13 mpg when gettin' it. Mountains are no problem....or the Durango and split the gas/expenses. I like using the EZ Pass, but did you know Jersey is starting to give speeding tickets b/c you are timed between exits. Getting that ticket in the mail would suck. I wonder if PA is doing the same.

Still, we'll talk. I want to find out about your surgery/ if you had it.
