i'm converting over a carb block to a horn and noticed in the service manual the lack of bleed lines on the the fuel injected motor. when looking at the block the injection came off there are small holes that are drilled in the main crank jounals that go through to the bottom of 2 cylinders. my carb motor does not have these. are these two holes the " bleed lines" on an injected motor. and do i have to have these.

i believe those holes and bleedlines you speak of are for oiling the mains arent they

Those "Bearing feeds" cum on carb and XRI motorz, and I use them, but I have run my 2.0 wit out them and seen no change in brg color...U will git more lube from inside tha motor than thru them lil holes...Tha 300 drag I had didn't even have a hole in tha case for tha lines...on a EFI motor, tha only line ya need is tha one runn'in from top to bottom(actually from bottom to top)...thatz a nessessity!!!...REX:cool:

The OMC Crossflow is very similar. They oiled the center mains by pressure from #1 & #3 cyl. The end bearings are oiled by pressure leaking past the sealing rings and connecting them via a hose (Merc) or an internal passage (OMC) helps cause a "flow through" effect and keep puddling from occuring.

On my my race 2.6 I redrilled the block and connected the center mains using an unused passged under the intake to achieve the same effect as the end bearings get. Although as Rex said I wouldn't doubt that any extra oiling for the centers will matter. They probably get plenty from sealing ring blow-by.
