Yamaha Powerhead Compatability?

I have a 1992 Yamaha 40 that runs great but has no power trim, I have found a blown up 1997 with power trim locally, are the power heads interchangeable for these years?

Both of those years have 2 and 3 cylinder powerheads. If both powerheads have the same number of cylinders. Most likely it will work. If you can get the model numbers of each motor, go to iboats.net, they have parts diagrams for both motors.
