mercury 2.5 ???????

My friend is selling a 1991 mercury 200hp 2.5 offshore motor. What is the difference between a offshore motor and a regular 200 mercury. The motor has about 150 hrs on it,super clean. Any info would be helpful. Thanks Joe

an offshore motor thats built for salt water has better corrosion protection usually bearing a name like......"salt water series" or "blue water series" or something to that effect depending on brand of motor

people also refer to offshore in the race bred style high perf motors as seen on boats in the offshore racing circuit which are built with salt water use in mind

i'm sure theres other and better explanations for this though

Alot of the 91's were 7 petal motors w/ pumper carbs.
If it's in good shape it's a desireable motor
