Any advice on how to remove a stuck Merc 300xs power head. Im starting to think that the drive shaft is stuck in the block. Can't drop the lower unit is the reason I'm thinking that and yes all ten nuts are off the studs.

More then likely the studs are salted into the holes. Highly unlikely the driveshaft is stuck in the crankshaft. If it was the driveshaft you would still be able to get the lower to split from the mid. It would just not drop down.

Ski, what i did. the studs along side the mid. back off the nuts until there flush with the stud,a little more, put a metal spacer under the nut, now when you continue ccw your forcing the stud up. do all the same, side to side, crank a flat at a time slowly youll see the parting line separate. spacers are pushing down against mid recess, forcing stud up. i should say spacer is on top of the nut

In other words you are "elevating" the block from the mid using the studs and spacers like piers. Probably wouldn't hurt to use a can of bolt breaker on everything as you go?

A good soak with a good penetrating oil and then some heat if still stuck also helps.

This is some of the best penetrant I have ever used.

more like small screw jacks. once it moves, liquid wrench. add washers under spacers for each 1/8'' as you go. h depot sell box of shims

Love my Aero Kroil. Not sure of a convenient place to get it any more. Where do you get yours? I’ve been using mine sparingly lately.
