I am trying to get the highest RPM posible with the 280 Motorola electronics. So far I was able to achieve 9200, these are the RPMs that for many years many people claim that the system is capable of. Many years has been passed and it seems that everyone one is changing to drag electronics without spending time to search for any possible upgrade to the Motorola electronics. Do anyone know any upgrade that I can do to achieve more RPMs. My ECU is unrestricted, therefore, it should be capable of going higher. I am trying not to waste time in testing different things that maybe others already did.

The issue is when you adjust the fuel trim in the Motorola box it just goes up and down on the whole curve VS adjusting certain parts of the curve at the top. This is what I was told when I had an unlimited box. I did run that till #3 popped and I swapped to 16 amp ignition.

The motorola box is not the issue with r.o.s it raises your rpm limits,,the problem is the E.C.Ms,,electromic control modules,,,,{coils} they will not fire as fast as drag coils...that is why everything is changed.....Do your homework on what you need to replace,I use factory merc stuff on my race engines,,prices are high on everything merc has ,for drag engines the power pacs and stator are different part #s than some 16 amp systems..stator ,,a35,,power pacs a16,,,also there are 3 different #s for pacs,fishing ,pro max,and drag..Of course all this depends on what you are trying to do.When buying used stuff inspect everything,,,coils not cracked,all wires to coils and pacs and.. E.C.U ,,and then the big one,,,,what E.C.U,,,merc,brendan powers,or brucato>>>>Ed

My 280 with the alternator and unlimited RPM Motorola box went to 93-9400 and #3 didn't like it. haha. Laser_Ed is correct also with the time to refire at higher RPMs.
