I come across things time to time that remind me of the fun I had and great folks I met here and, on the water.
When I see a video of a boat ripping along with the sound of the open exhaust and a V-6, it takes me back to the Scream and Fly days and boat gatherings.
20 years slipped by so fast, I came across a video the other day that made me look at just how much time had actually passed.
We moved out of Florida in 2004, December actually, no boat, no job but a brand-new house and an unknown future ahead, complete life change geographically and mentally, time to slow down a bit.
Went from boats to bikes, riding the mountains and making that hobby also my job, that also got a bit too hectic, and I slowed down again.
Had my own gig for a few years and enjoyed most every day.
Health took a turn that made me think about things and reflect, the reflection of the fun times brought my thoughts to my old boat and the fun we had, some thoughts also went to the fun with the bikes, playing drums in a band but the boating, that stood out the most it seemed.
So cool to come in here and see it's still rockin like it always was!
Thanks Greg for all you do and the great memories it makes, there were so many folks I met and had fun with through here that I don't want to say in fear I would miss some but I hope all is well with everyone!!
A lot of us think the same thing. Hope you are doing well.
Rock

My brother!
Didnt you and I jump off a balcony into a pool bellow?
Arent you the same guy that worked his Fla job to the wee hrs of the morning before loading Wendy into the Skipmobile and heading to the Rumble on the River to front the band that you created??
Same guy that didn’t even bring his boat because you had so much to do with/for the band??
Same guy that shot the mythical video of my Vector busting a 100 for the first time??
Same guy the did a shrimp boil and organized a party to welcome me to Fla for that trip?
Same guy that went to Bobby Sr’s for a party there to listen to his amazing stories?
Thought so.
Skip you may have done more for me than anyone.
Amazing how time changes.
Cheryl and I are 2 wks away from moving back to Fla!
I hope Wendy is well.
Please tell her Hi!

I still have the computer I used back then in a closet, always planned to get everything off the hard drive from those days but haven't yet, I need to.
So much time went by so fast it blew me away a bit when I got to thinking about it, they say it goes by faster as you get older, I believe them now.
Wendy is doing fine and still putting up with me for 39 years so far.
Where are ya heading in Florida?

WAYYYYYYY worse than when you were down.
The Pan Handle surfaced purely due to cost and being able to survive on retirement income.

We started in Gulfport Ms and kept going east
And Foley is doing you proud brother.
He has a weekend place by the Suwannee River and has rally every stinkin 6 months!
No idea how he and Gina keep it up but is amazing.

Commodore Foley has kept the Torch burning on the Suwannee chapter with his Lovely wife Gina all these years , still going strong, unfamiliar waters for me . think there was about a 2 year stretch we wouldn't even boat here in NE Fla , just with everybody in central areas , Winter Haven started it off for many of the crew followed with Alligator Lake , East Lake , etc. and of course the ever popular Silver Glen meet ups starting on the lower St Johns originating at Jungle Den . had a large group show up at Bass World to hit the Glen but very few oldtimers showed and the new wives gave it a big thumbs down as accommodations were a little Grandma shiek , oh well . still get the bug ,,, and speaking of Lobster season , its around the corner  Fun out

I feel like a complete imbecile for not being aware of this thread until just now. Most of the time I am in General Discussion, and naturally, I feel like a complete imbecile for not keeping up with stuff in The Lounge.
Skip, you are one of the people that essentially created this site. You were here way back when we had the old forums. Gary and Keith, you both as well are part of the original group of people that played a very important part in guiding this site from the start. Fujimo, most of us will certainly agree that you have added so much to S&F with your knowledge and photos, that you as well have played a very important role in our early years. You have all had and continue to have a profoundly important part of this site. I am so incredibly fortunate to know all of you. I truly feel that way.
Skip, I have many great memories of those early days. I still remember getting to ride with you in your Talon at the Winter Haven event which was the first event that I covered when I moved to Florida. You are all first-class people, and I consider myself so fortunate because what makes this site is the people, not the boats.
And Skip, I remember so many of your 'Scream Toons', which I keep safely backed up. Those are priceless to me. I tell people all the time that this site's greatest accomplishment is bringing us all together. And for the people that were not here to see Skip's ScreamToons, here they are!

Mr Fun, we are pretty well planted here in the Smoky mountains, love the 4 seasons, the mountains and the rivers, it has gotten a bit crowded around here though over the last few years but still not as bad as where we left.
Instigator, it would be cool if ya find those Screamtoons and hang them in the new shop!
There is a campground up here we love to go to called Elkmont, no power or water at the sites and cell phones don't work, you can actually relax and if we can get a river site we sit in our lounge chairs and drift off listening to the river, that's all you hear, it has been our vacation place for years now, we are unreachable there, we had a few campers but we got a conversion van set up for it now so we don't have to fuss with a camper anymore.

The car we play with is a 66 Tempest, I had one when Wendy and I were dating and got married in 1986, I had a dream we got it back and someone put a 455 4 speed in it, well, I was bummed that it was just a dream, so I went on the hunt for a project and it sure was! but now we get to enjoy it, taking it to Pontiacs in Pigeon Forge event this weekend.

Very cool!
love everything you described about the camper/camping.
One of the islands we hit on Lake Erie, is basically in Canadian water on the north end.
We rent a golf cart to explore and every time we hit that point, both our phones ding us that we need to upgrade to Canadian coverage.
We of course smile and turn our phones off!
We bought a 27’ camper to aid in the hunt for our new homestead down here but stumbled onto this house before we used it more than a couple times.
Miss the camper but it was too much like owning a boat!

We have it set up pretty comfy with a thick mattress that's better than the 3 campers we had, it sits on top of the electric lay down seat and I built a bed extension to support it and the coolers go under it, also built a sideboard cook setup in case we have to cook inside on a rainy day and to make morning coffee, we put in LED lighting on its own battery power, put in an A/C unit for summer months that runs on a 2000 watt generator, we use it to cool it down before going to sleep, all in all it works out pretty darn good.

Feet down, youre shoulder to shoulder.
Feet down does make it easier for the Mrs to get to the head in the middle of the night

Gator it is a 1966 389 4bbl with TH400, basically stock, small cam, roller tip rockers, shorty headers, 2.5 exhaust, I recently rebuilt my transmission, been doing car shows and not much racing, I did take it to a YouTube event in Missouri on the 8th mile track, it won a few and lost a few, almost got it in the 9s but got flagged for a trans leak, she does good as a daily driver which is what I really wanted it to do.543442543443543444543445543446543447543448
