Swing set A frames for lifting outboard

Would your typical A frame swing set hold enough to pull an outboard off the back of a boat? How much weight do you think it could hold?

Or if I made a telephone pole style rather than 4x4s, something like this, how much weight do you think it would hold?

The issue is my backyard is grass and nothing rolls on casters, it would be nice to pull up to it and lift the engines, rather than backing into my garage (I have a ceiling mount hoist in the garage)

Harbor freight sells cherry pickers for <$300. Probably aboot the same you'd have in materials for a swingset (if that one isn't yours). Couple well placed pavers or 3/4 plywood for a base...

That swingset looks like something out of True Detective.:D

I hung my whole 20' hydrostream & 200 Merc from two garage rafters to weigh it... 1850# with me in it.
That thing you got should easily hold an outboard... even a big, fat four-stroke.

Ive used one of those telescoping multi position ladders to pull an outboard before.. Actually worked perfectly.

I have a cherry picker already, rather than pull it outta the shed each time, I figured maybe a semi permanent structure with more lift height could be easier to pull the boat up to...not only to take an outboard off but to maybe even take a boat off a trailer...

There are better looking ones I just pulled that picture from google quickly:D

I made a hoist to fit into my 2" trailer hitch to move engines around.

I have exactly what you suggest. It’s a simple 4” swing set double a frame. The top assembly is made from 4” sched 40 iron pipe with six inch long nipples for the legs. I use 16 gauge 4” galvanized tube for legs. I have 8’ legs and the top frame is about 8’ wide I can’t recall I’ve had this thing my whole life my dad made it. It’s made to slip together and store easy and to be transported in a pick up with the rail gate closed. Well, a real pick up at least. Anyways it’s wider than the truck bed so with a chain fall attached you just back under with whatever you want to load or unload and away you go. It’s buried in snow at the moment or I would post a pic

I'm surprised you trust that with little kids on it, as spindly and narrow as it is, let alone hoisting an engine on it. Wish you best luck though.

I use to use my old basketball pole to take off and install the outboard. That BB frame with a chain hoist worked OK.

My back yard were i work on the boats is wide open so I dont have a tree limb to hang from and most of the other trees on one of the outsides is standing deadwood so might have to get a little redneck
