Meteor scare.

All this recent drone talk got me thinking about a recent event that I witnessed.
So I'm heading out duck hunting about a month ago. My friend and I are driving in the dark, and in an instant the sky lights up blue like day, then slowly fades back to black. It was a bit concerning at the time. I didn't know if we were getting bombed, invaded by aliens, or what was going on. Should have known, as I had a large meteor break up directly overhead once before, but this time the main light source was out of sight, behind the mountains.

What kind of strange things have you seen in the night sky?

When I was working at JFK Airport, I saw a meteor during the daylight hours while I was driving on the tarmac, thought it was a plane crash landing/exploding in the sky.

Years ago, during the daylight on a clear day. I saw an orangish light in the sky that slowly turned white with increasing brightness, then back to orangish, then gone. The weirdest part of this is that it was perfectly stationary. It did frighten me a bit. Several years later, I figured out what I saw. I am quite sure that it was a meteor moving straight towards me. That is the only thing that would explain why it seemed so stationary from my position.
If the big one ever hits us, I say meh, we had a good run.

Edit- I forgot to mention that it was quite large. That's the part that frightened me a bit.
