Prices are all over the place. I’ve seen good running FF for 1500 and others asking 6k for an EE. It’s going to depend on condition and compression numbers. Originality is nice to see as well. EE value is less than the infamous FF. Having it running on a transom or stand in good clean condition 4-5 is within reach imo.

A 1995 200xri has a book value of $1525. I think as a private seller you should be able to get $2500 to $3500. A dealer should be able to get $3500 to $4500. The better the condition the more you can get. And the lower the price the faster it will sell.

“Book” value is near meaningless for boats and motors.

The only thing that really matters is market value.

I mainly did this post because I’m an OMC guy and know their value but not Mercs.

Look up the book value of s 300X then try and buy one at that. Hah!

I do appreciate your comments though.

I have a good friend who lives and breathes Mercs and is coaching be behind scenes as well.

If this deal happens, the Merc becomes seed money for the race program so the better I can do…….

It sounds like a nice clean motor too.

I did almost the same thing yrs ago but the boat (also a Checkmate) and it came w/a 225 OMC that was rock solid and very clean.

An ‘88 I think.
And based on how clean solid it was, I got $3500 for that thing!

And now that a new 225 is $25k, I down expect used prices to go down…..

I bought a 200 pro XS recently for 8k.
It was a 2016 fresh water motor with 115 hrs .
I was posting just as a reference for used motor prices.

A good running 90's 200hp sells for 2,500-4,500 from my findings and searches.

I agree. Book value is really just a tool for dealers to get an appropriate trade in value. Market value is really what someone is willing to pay. In March of 2022 I had a 1992 115 Merc 4 cylinder 2+2 motor. Book value was $680. In one week I sold it for $3000. The guy was super happy. Thing are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

I tried to find book price for an STV or an A Bote but could not.

Cant imagine them showing more than $3 - $5 on a lates ‘90’s - ‘2000 version of either.

As either, w/no power selling in 24 hrs at $20k+!

Something like this I would gauge the buy or don’t buy based on the lower value side of selling the 2.5. Around 2500 for a good runner will likely sell promptly. Maybe 2k. For those higher numbers you may have to work for it. Plus im only offering what I’ve seen listed I don’t know if the higher priced ones are selling or not. A good running FF for 1500? That’s not going to last a day imo

STV is there. It's under Summerford Racing Inc. But they only have 4 years available. 1990-1991 and 1995-1996. The 1990-1991's are supposed to be worth around 3K LOL and the 1995-1996's around 2K

Like most things, depends on you knowing the market and what you have.

When we were in Fla I was rebuilding/selling V-6 OMC Looper long blocks for $3500 per, as fast as I could build them.

Gary I did an open-wallet structural overhaul of my Starflite 3 years ago. Shoot me a PM if you want to talk. I would caution about a Starflite as a raceboat in original condition as far as the stringers, floor, and transom, especially with V8 power. I was very impressed with the original core installation however - very well done and needed hardly any repairs on mine; others have found the same thing.
