Please be safe people. I really hope you all in the areas near Sarasota and Tampa get spared the worst predictions. Very sad :(

I don't think this will be quite as bad for me as Ian was, but power is out already. Winds here are not extreme yet but picking up. Tornado touched down about three miles from me.

I'll post back later if possible.

Stay safe friends,
Greg

Yes he is

He had coconut palms on his dock last time, I think they were his neighbors, the water was at his sliding glass door.

I just drove around, we got lucky this time, we had bad weather for 4 days, not much rain just windy today.

Over 5 inches of rain in one hour, over 18 inches in 24

https://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/hurricane-milton-rain-1-in-1000-year-event-rcna174838

Studies have shown that global warming is increasing sea surface temperatures, which provides extra energy for storms, allowing them to gain speed and intensity. The unusually high sea surface temperatures in the Gulf of Mexico that helped both Hurricanes Milton and Helene strengthen were 200 to 500 times more likely because of climate change, according to research released Wednesday.

A warmer atmosphere can also hold more water: For every degree Fahrenheit that the planet heats up, the atmosphere can hold about 3% to 4% more moisture. That makes storms capable of dumping enormous amounts of rain over land.

no one is arguing that point, i think the point of argument is whether its man made or not? and since we havent been able to measure weather for very long there really isnt enough evidence to support their claim.

Hope all are well
I am in sarasota county 54 years now.
The outlying keys are hammered.
All this just after Helene. Sad.
I would go into more detail but I see the thread has already gone into
some BS global warming garbage by none other than.......
The earth is 4.5 billion years old its just doing earth things.
Man cannot change or hurt this planet, period. We can hurt our ability to live on it that is all.
The earth will be the earth forever in human years. Deal with it.

The last two storms have brought death and destruction to the S.E. United States.
Those that can help out most certainly are doing more than their part.
That would be church's, private citizens, and conservative states not affected by the storms. FEMA would love to help, but they have spent all the tax payer money on illegal's.

Maybe the village idiot can explain the storms that ravaged Florida before the industrial revolution, since he want's to use the misfortune of others to tie this to more liberal nonsense.

Most of the work is being done by a great organization I support [Samaritan's purse] Billy Graham Evangelistic Assn. They were on the ground there and up north instantly.
