3.0 225 cowl modification

I was reading that drilling holes in cowling help these motors breathe better. Does anyone have pictures of this modification?

Some people put 1/2" spacers in the portion of the small top cowl that bolts on to the main cowl. This scoops a little extra air.

is it worth it?

I've heard stories of 1 or 2mph gains. I did a small lift on mine, but couldn't tell you truthfully, as I rarely use that boat.

No, there is already a large air inlet under that thing.
