when i bought the stv with the mercury 2.5l engine in 2003, i was told the engine had just been rebuilt and had 280 hp. When i test drove it`,i reached 100mph with no problem.needless to say i was satisfied the boat and engine was what i was looking for, so i didn,t ask him what he had done to the engine . I have had it 21 years and never had a problem.i do the normal tune yearly of plugs , filters , lubrication ,and it keeps on trucking.
