hey guys.. well today was a bad day.. then a worse day
1st i missed the entrance to a really nice flat piece of water.. then turned in to late and hit bottom at just about full speed.. yea it sucked. i trimed up just so i dont stop dead and made it over. i reaplized i wasnt getting the "punch" when i hit the gas so i shut down and trim up. the skeg is scratched to **** and my fastest prop (the black cleaver i got for $50 on ebay :) ) is all ****ty looking. i guess thats what i get when u turn a prop though sand,. shells and rocks about about 6300rpm :( its fixable though. a little (lot) of filing and sanding and it will be fine for the season.
ok so i go back in and switch props to the srx (runs about 55-56gps) only about 2-3mph slower then the cleaver, but carries weight better. everythings going fine UNTIL.. my dad says to my nieghbor "hey u wana take it for a spin" (im just about ****ting my self at this point, hes a good guy and can drive a FISHING boat but not experienced in a hi-po boat to just send him out on it.) anyways he trimms wayyyyy up b4 hitting the gas (we said not to!!) and the bow goes way upppp.. .then splats down.. he tries again and it goes wayyyyyyy up and then squats down.. but goes on plane (somehow) he gets off plane and comes in. hes says "ur trim is stuck again" i think ok no big deal just wiring again or sumthin.. WRONG. between me hitting the sand at about 50mph, and him with the planing off and the motor high he snaped the weld that was holding the trim pump onto the swivel bracket. SOB!! we tied the motor "in" and towed the boat home. then i found out i need to take EVERYthing apart to fix this thing.
SOOO.. at about 10:30pm i go out and start disconnecting everything, my dad comes about about 20min later to help out. we get the powerhead off, then drop the lowerunit (needs durglass work). then disconect the steering and trim ram, but the top bolt was harder to get out then useually.. OMG@ i take it out and its bent ALOT. i think me hitting the ground did most of that... we got inside at arounf 12:45am.. not 2 bad time wize lol
so tommorow its off to fix everything (hopefully) and be back on the water monday (hopefully).
sorry for rambling on like this.. lesson for the day "dont let ANYONE drive your boat unless your POSITIVE they KNOW what their doing."
pics to follow (give me a day or to to take them and upload um')
