hey guys.. well today was a bad day.. then a worse day

1st i missed the entrance to a really nice flat piece of water.. then turned in to late and hit bottom at just about full speed.. yea it sucked. i trimed up just so i dont stop dead and made it over. i reaplized i wasnt getting the "punch" when i hit the gas so i shut down and trim up. the skeg is scratched to **** and my fastest prop (the black cleaver i got for $50 on ebay :) ) is all ****ty looking. i guess thats what i get when u turn a prop though sand,. shells and rocks about about 6300rpm :( its fixable though. a little (lot) of filing and sanding and it will be fine for the season.

ok so i go back in and switch props to the srx (runs about 55-56gps) only about 2-3mph slower then the cleaver, but carries weight better. everythings going fine UNTIL.. my dad says to my nieghbor "hey u wana take it for a spin" (im just about ****ting my self at this point, hes a good guy and can drive a FISHING boat but not experienced in a hi-po boat to just send him out on it.) anyways he trimms wayyyyy up b4 hitting the gas (we said not to!!) and the bow goes way upppp.. .then splats down.. he tries again and it goes wayyyyyyy up and then squats down.. but goes on plane (somehow) he gets off plane and comes in. hes says "ur trim is stuck again" i think ok no big deal just wiring again or sumthin.. WRONG. between me hitting the sand at about 50mph, and him with the planing off and the motor high he snaped the weld that was holding the trim pump onto the swivel bracket. SOB!! we tied the motor "in" and towed the boat home. then i found out i need to take EVERYthing apart to fix this thing.

SOOO.. at about 10:30pm i go out and start disconnecting everything, my dad comes about about 20min later to help out. we get the powerhead off, then drop the lowerunit (needs durglass work). then disconect the steering and trim ram, but the top bolt was harder to get out then useually.. OMG@ i take it out and its bent ALOT. i think me hitting the ground did most of that... we got inside at arounf 12:45am.. not 2 bad time wize lol

so tommorow its off to fix everything (hopefully) and be back on the water monday (hopefully).

sorry for rambling on like this.. lesson for the day "dont let ANYONE drive your boat unless your POSITIVE they KNOW what their doing."

pics to follow (give me a day or to to take them and upload um')

What a way to start your boating life. Your young, get used to it life has it's bad and good time's. Lesson # 1 don't let anyone just hop in your boat and drive. In this world of nice lawers, you can't be too cautious. Hope you get back and running. Soon:D

Besides not letting anyone else drive your boat dont listen to the passenger! 3 or so years I took my son for a ride and he says cant this thing run any faster in doing so we smoked a piston. Now many dollars later I have only one seat. Sorry to hear of your misfortune but welcome to performance boating, Rick

its all grinded out and ready for welding, we just need to bring the cylinder back out to get the angle right and have it welded back on.

im sending the prop out to JC along with another one i want re-hubbed (a cleaver looking thing) so ill c how that comes out.

i might be back on the water by monday.. or a little later, either way i learned my lesson.. STAY IN THE BOUY'S and dont let anyone drive the boat (unless you trust them)

Hey De Rick, I had my wife in the boat one day, and she says " I smell gas". Well old smart ass Dave says " ITs a boat it runs on gas". When we got home, I check out the 200 and a main jet is hanging out of the carb. I am luckey the motor did not leanout. Listen to other people, sometimes they see things you don't.

There are only about 5 people you can trust. Mom & Dad will never steer you wrong. Then there is Me, myself and I. There are others but life will teach you who they are.

This statement got me worried:

[everythings going fine UNTIL.. my dad says to my nieghbor "hey u wana take it for a spin" (im just about ****ting my self at this point, hes a]

I know you need to respect your parents BUT the old man needs to quit telling people to take your boat out. You need to explain these boats don't just get "lent" to people. If he's stubborn, put a secret kill switch you can flip as you're getting out. "Oh bummer, the motor's flooded again!! We'll have to wait.

It's the ****s being a kid when the parents have the last word. Hope you can talk to your dad and make him understand it's not his boat to loan out. You shouldn't loan it either.

Bad luck comes in threes (supposedly) so i dont know how you count them but i think we can manage three out of what happened , second lucky you didnt hit a rock, up here if i hit anything on my lake it would be a rock (Stoney lake, go figure) at those speeds i think my motor would be toast or close to it ... think on the bright side, coulda been worse ;)

my dad admitted he was a little off when he let my neighbor take out the boat.. then we were talking and he said "well if i was in the boat" and i said "no,no,nooooooo, nooon,no,no!" 4get it.. no1 else drives the boat other then me. u, ronnie, dave, or someone that knows that their doing!"
