I would like to know if anyone on this board has run or know anything about the aftermarket Bob's machine tuner that is available.
Now I find it very interesting that Bob's in the marketing of this tuner claims top end gains on all 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5 V6 engines with this one size fits all tuner. And if said tuner is providing the top end gains as stated, how much of a trade off of low to mid range is lost?
Or are all aftermarket tuners as ol raceman once said on here " just a bunch of snake oil" LOL.
Looking forward to any and all input on this matter

I installed one in my 150 supermag. The factory tuner in a 150hp 2.5 is very long, straight, and heavy. I couldn't keep the bolts in the factory tuner, and eventually broke a corner off, (recommend safety wire for these bolts). At the time I had no spare, so Bob's was my solution. When I removed the powerhead, I opened up the adapter plates with a die grinder to match the Bob's tuner, which was significantly larger than the factory one. I also cut a inch off the Bob's tuner, as it was hitting the factory liner, that I ended up leaving out. I also drilled the mid in the attempt to get a little exhaust away from the prop.

As for performance, the boat is faster, and louder. Many changes were done at once, including a prop change, (cracked a blade on the old one with a tuner bolt). I can't say for certain what the Bob's tuner actually gained, except for more reliability, and noise. I've read posts that say nothing, but also read of dyno tests that say a tuner is worth a couple hp. My butt dyno sez, if coupled with the mods I described, you will gain less prop slip, and a few hp.

with "just" a tuner change doubt you'll see any change... might lose a touch of bottom end?.. tha noise can be misleading......... jmo.
