Or try &ltIMG src='http://www.goldenplasma.f2s.com/forum/smilies/happy03.gif'&gt

Cut & Paste everything between and including &lt and &gt
<IMG src='http://www.goldenplasma.f2s.com/forum/smilies/happy03.gif'>

Why do these pics load sporadically? The syntax is correct when I look at the source (and it is exact), but sometimes I get the broken picture symbol. I noticed that if I load the image in cache (by accessing the url for the image directly), then reload the page, they display correctly. Its kinda sporadic. It seems to me that the browser doesn't wait if an image is delayed, as if from a part of the web that is bogged from traffic, and then proceeds with the page. Possible? Maybe there's a preference that controls this?

My setup is Red Hat Linux on a Sun Sparc 5. Netscape is not quite as robust (only v4.5), but I have noticed it on some PCs as well.

The URL to the pictures in Yahoo are only valid for a short period of time, I don't know how long, maybe 45mins or so. You can link to the page with the picture on and it will work every time, but if you link to tha actual jpg, it won't necessarily be there next tims. The only solution I know of is to not use yahoo.

thats why I use my home page at home.tampabay.rr.com for pics that are embedded. But if I clear the cache on my browser, the browser doesn't reload them sometimes. I see it happen with other posts where people have pics in their signatures as well.

So its not always that we have the syntax wrong in the source code. Many times its just the plain flakiness of the web in general. Then you mix in the garbage software that most of you are running (spelled Microsoft) its a miracle the page even loads at all! Don't get me started... ;)
