Looking at my XR6 throttle setup today and it disturbs me. Throttle pulls full advance before the cam touches the throttle roller to open the carbs. Tlwjkw says 1/4 to 1/8 inch gap. My 4 cyl 115 works advance and throttle at the same time. Should the advance be all in before the throttle plates open? Or is there a halfway point? I adjust it until the rod is about to come out of the throttle-advance lever and it still barely touches the throttles as advance hits full. Is there a set-up video or instruction site where I can get this correct? Or is correct as-is going full advance before throttle plate start to open? Thanks.

Someone done that to get rid of the bog on hole shot , it's a good trick to do if one is sluggish out of the hole , these motors like some timing b4 fuel comes in , if u set it back it's getting fuel b4 it has enough timing to really burn it off , leaner idle jets helps alot to

Set your throttle and shift cables according to the bracket mounted to the block. Adjust your throttle arm on the carbs for the space between the roller. Recheck your timing at full advance. It always helps me to have a mercury manual to refer to.
