So I just bought a 1985 12 ft Baja Scat Cat with a 25 hp Johnson that is said to actually be bumped up to 35 hp. The boat runs out at about 30 mph right now but it doesn't plane out well at all . Fuel tank is in the back and battery is in the front under the console. Once it is on plane it runs pretty well but we have to run in 20mph range to keep it there. We are on lake erie and even on a flat day the boat chop alone makes running that fast a bit of challenge.

I bought this for my kids that are 8 and 9 years old so I am NOT looking to get top speed out it yet. I just want it to be easier for them to get on plane and be able to run it at a slower planing speed.
It currently has a 10" 13 pitch stainless 3 blade, I don't see the make of the prop. It does have a CMC power trim unit on the boat.

Does anyone have any good experience with these to set this up properly.

Thank you in advance.

Any idea of the RPM's at full throttle? This may help someone offer a recommendation that best suits your needs. Awesome looking boat.

No idea. It's doesn't have a tack.
I would guess it's at the top of the rpm a wot with trim. But it's terrible at getting on plane. And will fall off if you get out of the throttle. Thought about a dolphin for it too?

Maybe trim tabs would help. I don’t know if they would go behind the tunnels or the sponsons

I thought about that but I would like to try some props first.
