I remember a thread on this topic but it was quite a while ago. Are surface gap plugs no longer in production? If surface gap plugs are used on shaved heads, should conventional gap plugs be checked for reach / penetration or piston TDC before using?

Just bought a set of surface gap plugs last week. I would think the heads would have to be ridiculously tight to have to worry about contact with a piston.

I've used NGKs for years. Is it Champion that stopped making surface gaps?
