Ray Hansen picked up a Valero by Hydrostream. Do a search on this board for Ray and get his number. He is in CT also.

Concord Mach IIs are 20' long, stable, and seat 7. Mine goes 66mph (on GPS) with a stock 200 Merc. The guys at Lake X had a Mach 2 going 84 mph with a stock 260hp. Mine is a '85 but they are still making the hull today.

Mach2, What is the hull bottom like? From your photo the boat kind of looks like a checkmate, you say they are still being made do they have a website?

CAP'N ROG, Regarding the streams, I have always thought they are great boats and really perform well, besides the 18' foot valero, take a look at the 20' voyager, a really great all around, very usable, family performance boat ;)

Now here's a Hi-Perf bowrider!

There was a Hydrostream Vamp on e-bay a few weeks ago. Talk about a sleeper that would fly!! The Vamp is a smaller boat (I think 16ft) but it wouldn't require gobbs of HP to step out and spank lots of rigs. Price would be a lot less than a Voyager or Valero too.

OK, Q-shot gets credit for the one of the fastest bowriders I have ever seen.

Blkmtrfan - The Concord Mach II looks a lot like a Checkmate. They are all hand laid fiberglass construction (the company only makes 25-35 boats a year). The bottom has two lifting strakes on both sides and a reverse chine on the sides for cornering stability. The bottom has a slightly rounded pad about 12 inches wide that runs the first 2/3rds of the hull. The boat is rated to carry any single size outboard including V-8s. The we site, while a little lame, is http://www.concordboats.com/

I'll have to keep that pic of the Vamp away from my old inline Merc....

Nice rides, I love BRs.

Blkmtrfan, thats the Voyager XT that was mentioned in another thread a few days ago on Shawano lake in Central Wisc. We had 3 Voyager XTs on that lake last summer, and went to find that bad boy for some cool pictures, but could not find him... Thats the motor I need for my rig!

Q-Shot, what part of the lake are you guys on? South shore closer to Cecil?

PaulR
06-27-2003, 10:00 AM
...I live on the lake. My boat(STV River Rocket) sits in a lift on the west shore three doors down from the Cattau Beach boat landing. The Voyager sits in a lift just south east of the island before the point. If you go to the Sunset Grill(Bamboo Bar) you will find a Mirage with a 300PM sitting in a lift just west of the bar.

Two weeks ago I watched that Voyager walk right by a Rapid Craft Riot with a 2.5 on it. The Riot had four people in it, but still...it must have sucked to get beat by a "family boat"!!

That is a cool boat and looks good too

Q-shot, will have to look you up next time we feel the need to get "the itch"... I mean next time we are on Shawano.

Almost all of my boating is about an hour north of you. Most days, I am the fastest on the two lakes (sssshhhh, don't tell anyone) that we tear up. My little 200 would feel intimidated around all that power anyway. ;)

Haven't been to the beach party at the Bamboo Bar for years... they still have that?

Have a good 4th.

I have a 30 yr old Checkmate BR 17'. Here I photoshop colored it white. It is turd brown flake. Why did they like that brown back then? Red, blue, green....why brown.

HS Voyager XT, all the way. Anything smaller takes a real beating in the choppy stuff. Also, the XT hull handles like it's on rails at cruising speeds, but behaves like any good angry vee hull on the top end. Easy 75 mph with a Merc 200, and 80 isn't out of the question with proper setup.

And the NEW style Voyager XT? HELL YEAH!! Even better.

Besides, is there a better looking bowrider out there?

Liqui-Fly

In a Voyager XT?? Vegas yes Voyager.......maybe. Not easy though.

From what I anderstand, a 200 should get you 75, but only with a bow cover installed.

Hey Mach 2, I'd be real interested to know what set-up the
boys at Lake X used for that 84 MPH pass. I'm stuck in the
60's like you w/ 200hp on my 92 Mach 2. Thank's in advance,
Steve

My Voyager XT did 77.4 mph on a gps ONCE, with a freshly trued and cupped 25p Tempest prop, empty gas tank, light chop on the water, all the planets in line... etc, etc.

But it will do 75mph "most" days, but just barely. I spin the engine to 6500rpm, but I don't know how accurate my tach is either? No bow cover either, wish I had one.

I may never see 80 mph with this engine, but it sure is fun to try.

The Valero model at the first of the post is called a Vasseret is'nt it? It has the same bottom as the V-king YT and Valero YT. It does pretty decent speeds with a 2.4 V6 Merc. Not to mention if you should put a 2.5 260 or better on one. I believe there is one on here for sale also. Hydrostream gets my vote. Any of them really! It is also true what they say....."Drive one and you'll Understand!"

WISKI do you have any pics of your voyager? im thinking about looking for 1

Charlie M

That boat has Velero YT on the Coast GUard plate, think the name got changed in 1988 to the Vasseret. I believe this boat was hot boat of the year in 1987, mine still has the sticker on it. It went 75 with a box stock 1985 150 on it (older powerhead rated motor).

Cant wait to see what i can get my voyager to do. I just bought a 1994 Xstream with a 1994 225 venom from alaska. I pick it up at the barge co. at sunrise tomarrow !!! No sleep tonight. I got 74 MPH on the gps during the test drive. Yep it was even my gps. This was with no jackplate. I will be ordering a 10" hydrualic plate in the next few days. AWESOME BOAT !!

That is one of my favorite boats! Just don't want to go that big...yet. I can't give up my BR in a small boat like a 17-18'. Just no room without. Maybe after I get one the way I want I could get a little play boat, like a viper/vector.

I'd love a vamp or vasseret. Surprised nobody seems to make them. If one could figure out a little folding shell to cover the bow that fit in the boat...

I have a roll-top cover on my truck...would make the sweetest bow cover and is light aluminum with vinyl over it...;)

Look on hydrostream.org for pics of the old Voyagers...

If I can find some of my boat, I will scan them in (yes, I still use REAL film cameras, not the digital type yet)

Great boats if you find one in good shape, but they are 10-15 years old, and most have had multiple owners, so be careful of what you buy.
