So the main jets for the WH-46 1990 2.4/200 are 0.080 except for 2 and 5 which are 0.082.

Yet the main jets for the WH-22 1983 2.4/200 are like mid-0.070’s except again for 2 and 5, which are a couple thou bigger.

That sounds like rather a big difference for two motors of the same design, displacement, and rpm.

-Does the WH-22 version with the smaller jets just run leaner? Maybe there was higher octane in the early ‘80’s? (I was still in Australia in that era so I don’t know what the octane situation was in the USA at that time).

-slow degradation of power over the years so that by 1990 the 2.4/200 with richer jetting was not quite as powerful as the earlier ones, but safer from warranty claims?

-or maybe the newer version was more powerful (better porting?) and required bigger jetting to stay on the safe side of lean?

Any ideas which?

(Mine is a November 1990 build with WH-46’s)
