Trying to find out if this is possible or even a good idea. I've currently got a 1987 225 v6 johnson on my boat. It has a 20 inch mid and a lower that is having issues. It dosent want to go into reverse anymore. Plus the 20 inch mid is to long for the boat. Even with the jack plate all the way up it sits to low in the water. I have a 1985 300 v8 with what I believe is a 15 inch mid, race style exhaust outlet and nose cone on the lower. It appears to be in good working condition. I bought the 300 for another project boat that I am nowhere near finishing. Im not interested in putting the v8 on current boat but I'd rather swap my good running v6 225 power head onto the v8 shorty mid and lower. Is this possible? I'm still learning a lot about the omc stuff. I read that there maybe is some small differences between the two lowers but I cant seem to find any real good info on this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Ryan

Your V8 mid is also 20" and the powerhead bolt patterns are different so will not bolt up.

Your V6(pictured) is a 25" model not a 20" model.
