Baja 20ss HIN Help me?

I bought a 1980 Baja 20ss with a 150 Merc last year and the title got denied because the HIN wasnt right it only shows 11 digits. It reads AGC - 7422M80C the 7 could also be a 5. Someone maybe help me with this? Or get me in contact with someone that can help?

See if you etch it with a paper and pencil if the numbers come out any better/ see additional- if thats what you are trying to figure out

another way may be a dry erase marker or poster paint. color the HIN then wipe it off to leave color in the letters. AGC is Baja. Bucyrus ohio. M80C is oct 79 build 80 model year. you have 1 of the actual serial numbers or letters missing. probably the first one after the MIC. and the boat looks like this...http://www.antiqueboatamerica.com/Boat/20_Feet_1980_Baja_Outboard_37251

does it still have readable state reg numbers on the front of the boat. or actual reg card? that state should still have a record of it. last resort, try delaware...

Tried that. The registration is only from 2020 and the state claims it was registered wrong then? Idk this has been a mess.

I can confirm its 422M80C not 482, theres a black smudge there but i was able to see the 2 in person.

Yeah, but its all messed up where that one is cant etch it with pencil etc. i did fill with paint and wipe. It honestly looks like a 0 to me

did tag service reject it? or did fish and boat? take better, closer pic of the HIN. many angles.

i was philly area. so the tag guys i know are too far. you may have to tow the hull to Harrisburg.

I think the notary screwed up the paperwork because the HIN is messed up on the transfer paper so idk what to do at this point

if they have the boat in front of them, they will have to accept it or issue a new HIN. i assume you don't have pic of title?

go back to the notary and get pics of everything. he copied everything. has to give you copies. go over HIN on boat. and get the number where i circled it in yellow. or the different possibilities. then call fish and boat.

Yeah i am going to contact the notary today to see whats going on. Theres multiple clerical errors on the paperwork for the transfer so thats neat. I used whoever was open right by the guys house i bought it from. Now i have issues of course lol.

Ask the guy you got it from what tag service he used when he initially registered it. That tag guy will have a copy of that file also. It may be the same guy. It may not. Plus another copy of the previous title. May have the Vin numbers you need Hin numbers.

Good news. Contacted the notary and she said she had been contacted about this as well through fish and boat but never heard anything from us so didnt do anything but shed dig up the paperwork for me
