Most of the people here that attend the Wednesday evening meetups at Tanner Park in Copiague will probably know James, as he was always there with his Progression 22.
Based on reports, James fell out of, or was ejected from his boat on Sunday, and has not been located since then. A search is underway, though he is assumed deceased.

I never met James, however over the years we exchanged messages about Tanner Park and Progression boats. Our longtime members here know that this website began over 20 years ago as a place to post photos of our Wednesday night boating at Tanner Park, so that particular place has special meaning to me and many fellow Long Islanders here.

James was very experience and he also competed in races. The lesson here is clear - everybody please never take your safety for granted because things can go dreadfully wrong for anybody.

Let's keep James' family and friends in our thoughts. I can't imagine the heartache they are going through now.

This is the worst.

I never met James either but we traded message on FB about our boats, he is a great guy and will be sorely missed.

Can't even imagine what his family is going through,

Gonna miss you James :(

Having lost my "hot boat mentor" to a boating accident in 2003 these stories always hit close to home......... Being a big fan of the P22/24's, Class 7 racing, and even starting a Wednesday Night group here in Michigan similar to the Tanner Park guys, it all hits close to home and just sucks to read about. It's wild how connected you feel to people in your community you've only known as a facebook profile, an instagram name, or an S&F username.

Never met James.....I wish him, his family and his friends the best during this difficult time.

Well stated; very sad news. A persistent top level bulletin on Scream and Fly General Discussions "Pease always vest up and be safe" with links to lifeline race gear and one of the many inflatables would be great to see. Prayers sent.

This is yet another chance for us all to learn from without putting our family and friends through hell. PLEASE put it on when you are in the boat...This wasn't a rookie, it can happen to any of us.

Hate hearing about this stuff, my prayers go out to all of his family and friends...sorry for your loss.
