Hi! First time poster here :)

In own a Mercury 175hp 2.5L XRi.
Yesterday i pulled it out of the winterstorage and hot the water for short period of time to test it before the summer.

It started beeping intermittantly (fast beep beep beep beep etc. Sound). Weird thing is, it seemed like it only beeps when i hit the throttle and motor is above 3500 - 4k RPM. Below that the beeping dissapears.

I know the fast intermittant beep is oil, or water in filter related, but what should i do / check? What concerns me most is that it only beeps when i hit the trottle and reach a certain RPM. Could the oil gear be slipping? Is this easy to check and replace?

Motor runs strong like it should. There was no problem before it went into storage. The mechanic said he poured some quicksilver quickstore in the water seperator filter and turned the key so it would pump and fuel mixed with quickstore reach the VST and wpuld be ready for storage.

A couple things to share. First if your getting an intermittent beep you should assume it is working properly. It would be a good idea to add oil to main fuel tank if you continue to run the engine before you find the problem.
First thing to check is if the tank on the engine is full. Alarm may be working properly and warning you of low level in that tank. It is fed by the large tank in the boat. The engine provides the pressure to the tank. The Large oil tank caps need to be tight and the o rings clean to seal properly. There is a check valve on engine where oil pressure hose connects. Its easy to check.

Yes, the oil gear may be slipping, the float on cap could be bad, the module could be bad. You can test cap with ohm meter. You can remove oil pump and see if the bushing behind it is spinning when you rotate the engine.

Many are quick to remove oiling system. I suggest you troubleshoot before you just abandon it. Mixing oil is a pain.
