this 2.4 i got. i think it is one people want. i got heads and exhaust cover off without issue. carbs-reeds still installed. when people are looking for-at a powerhead, what do they want to see? should it be cleaned up and closed back up? or left open for inspection? and i don't know if it is a 200 or 2000 dollar powerhead. any input is welcome. i don't wanna give it away too cheap but i don't wanna look like an idiot who thinks my stuff is gold plated. well, it is chrome plated. all 6 bores passed the magnet test BTW. is there anybody in the Tampa to naples area who i could bring this to for an opinion? it is small enough to throw it in the car now. Although I am Probly not the first to do this…

Most people looking for chrome 2.4L motors (like me) want a bare powerhead. Bare block, block with front, or block with front and crank and pistons. They are so few and far between that if one is gonna spend the time putting it together he damn sure should do a full tear down and build with all new parts. A clean 2.4 200 fingerport block alone is worth $1000 in my opinion. If its not figerported it aint worth near that, and if its salty with broken bolts the price goes way down.
If that was local to me I'd offer you $150 for it as is. If you stripped it down to bare block and no bolts broke then the price would go up. Maybe $500. But as you can probably see it could easily take someone 4 hours to strip that block down and extract any broken bolts/studs. Time is money and that thing is gonna need a lot of both to make it run again.

the heads and exhaust cover came off with no broken bolts. i am sure the reed plate will also. block also came right out of the mid with no fight. is there any threat of block half bolts breaking? they look fine. i don't think there is any coolant near them. and is this fingerported?

I've never broken a front half bolt.
Good the others came out. It is fingerported. If you are willing to ship I would be interested in just the block and front half. Maybe pistons as well. Send me a PM if you want to ship.

so, the crank and rods are generic and not worth the freight weight? i also need to finish tearing down the 2.0 motor. practice don't make perfect, but never having done it before makes imperfections...

If I were to ship it, does anyone know correct weight of bare block with and without front half?

i weighed the 2.0 i am scrapping. it is around 60 for the back half and 10 for the front half. very doable weight for fedex ground or UPS. and they say the chrome bore motor is 30 lbs lighter. so that block may be in the 30-40 lb range.
