Hi there everyone,

I hope this is the correct sub-forum. I thought about making a post in the classified section but at this point in time I'm not willing to drop any $$$ on an outboard plus I'm not sure of the availability of the 60 EFI FormulaRace motor. I've contacted two shops near me via email (they are closed for the season) and neither have responded. I'm not knocking them. They are closed until spring.

So my question to you all at this point in time is whether or not the motor is available to the common man or will I need some sort of license though APBA or another organization? Does anyone have an idea of the cost of this motor new? Is it a difficult motor to find used and in good shape? Can anyone provide a ballpark price for a used FormulaRace?

I did the research and do believe that this is the best choice, based on weight/power/shaft length/gearing/intended use, for my mischievous reasons of use. :reddevil::cool: :D

A Yamato sounds great based on weight and the glorious two smoker sound but I'm having zero luck finding one for sale and I'm also not too sure about parts availability.

Please help me out if you can! Thank you

Also I'm not sure if it matters but I am located in the good old US of A.

Thank you all for your thoughts. If you look under products then competition you will find the Formula Race. https://www.mercuryracing.com/engines/competition/60-efi-formularace.html

It being under the comp section is what made me wonder if some proof of racing may be required.

The wavetowave.com article is what really got me more interested in the Formula Race. It's a great article. Very informative!

What sort of boat would you put it on?

Is cash and a dealer to deliver the motor to you. No special "license" is needed to own and operate the engine. The APBA is a shell and a joke of its former self. Don't waste your $$$ and time to join. The stock outboard racers have run Yamatos for years and I'm sure they could find one for you.
