When my boat is in the driveway, with the earmuffs on the motor, it starts fine, and runs just fine. Even if it's put in gear.
When I tilt the motor up and travel to the lake, it doesn't start. I smell gas, and it appears to be flooded. I can see gas dripping from the cover over the carburetors.
Then, I'll get home and it'll start just fine, after sitting a few hours, with the motor tilted down. I don't get it.
Any ideas what this could be??

I would try running in a barrel of water at home. It will run different as being in the water, the exhaust has more back pressure as it is pushed out under the water. I suspect some further tuning at home.

I'm going to try this tomorrow. Thanks.

the first thing i would do is clean the carbs and install carbs kits sounds like it flooding when you tilt up the motor and travel the needle has a rubber tip on the end of it so it does not leak past while tilted up that should fix the problem also check foot level could be to hi jim45157

I'm new to boating. This is my 1st.
What do you mean by "non vent" omc tank? I noticed a hose coming from the tank, that leads to a little "exhaust" or "vent", if you will. So, my guess would be that it's vented.
Yes, the hose is connected all the way to the lake.
Should it be disconnected?

it vents when you connect the hose to tank you can also take the fill cap leave it loose to be sure it is venting

Sounds like you have a built in tank.
