Hey guys, when ole Roost found out Merc was gonna stop production of 2T i was a little freaked out to say the least. I immediately called my girl at Jaco's Marine, i had been planning for awhile to get a new Euro and couldnt even imagine having one without a big O 300 2T hangin off the back. She said o no no those are all gone and no more coming, it was well into 2020. She said she would look around but it was doubtful a new one was still out there at this point. She called back an hour later and said there were 2 left in America, so i had her order me one. Its still in the box, on the crate, in my garage, with full warranty. I just wonder if anybody in here knows what its worth, I aint never gonna buy a boat, i have a 3000ft home in the city and a 100 acre ranch in the country and a boat dont fit into that that i can see.

Its a two stroke 300XS I guess, I could have sworn its the racing offshore version though w open exaust but you guys know more about em than i do. I plan to call the lady at Jaco today and see just exactly what i have. A 2T is motocross talk for a two stroke btw, when Kawasaki stopped production of the insane KX500 i went ahead and bought 2 of those. I ride one and the other is on a stand in my game room as a conversation piece, i've turned down triple what i paid for it. That 500 will walk all over all the new 4 stroke 450's if you have the sack to twist the throttle, with about one third the maintenance and cost, and has at least twice the longevity. I will post pics of this Merc for yall, thanks guys

What ever it is, it’s likely worth what you paid for it or a little more since Mercury 300’s are sort of in short supply.
But since the new 300R V8 4 stroke is such a good performer, it is worth less than a new one of those to most everyone who is buying.
If I was re-powering I want a 300R, the 300xs would need to be a good deal for me to choose it at this point in time.
Also I would not recommend holding onto it hoping for more money. When Mercury gets supply issues worked out on their big motors, I don’t think an NOS 300xs will hold or increase in value well.
Maybe if new motor prices go through the roof, but otherwise demand for it is going to drop over time and so will value.

Buy a 15" mad efi mid, a carbon cowl and pan and put it in the game room next to the KX. You really need to go ride a new KTM 450 and get a ride with a new 300R. 63' big block vettes, 426 hemi cars, LS 6 Chevelles, and 428 Cobra jets were the kings at one time as well. They are still cool to look at but history is just that (history).

Two places this might have a lot of demand for would be Wildman or Full Throttle Powerboats. Both have customers that might want this motor. Just a thought.

They are. I have a 300R. A 3 year extended warranty is another $5000 or more than double what you pay for a 300HP V8 warranty.

whew, they were selling for 18k to 19k at the end of the run. Jacos was selling at 18,300 if I remember correctly
Must have a Sportmaster since he said 1.62,
$$ option plus tax

I’m not looking but I thought a new V8 300R could be had for ~$30,000 maybe a couple thousand less. If that is true a 300xs needs to be around $20,000 or less, otherwise I’d be going after the 2023 new power.
If a 300R is $35,000 well then $25,000 might be OK.

I paid 25k for my 2022 300r with the newest sportmaster LU, 3 year warranty. The same motor are for sale now for around 28k from where I got mine. Someone got hosed on this 300xs. Retail was never anywhere near 25k ever on them.

Not to mention it was available for immediate purchased! I would have to agree if you had 100 you could sell them when I see them bring 15k used with out knowing if they are junk or not.
Also if you currently run a XS it will cost more then the purchase price or the R alone to get you up and running.

That was a good price for yours. A 2023 Mercury 300R is $38,300 MRSP and I am not sure if that is the one with DTS. I have a 2020 and the only one I could get was DTS, which was few thousand extra. I think the low retail on a 2023 was listed as $28K which is supposedly about the lowest you would be able to find one (again not sure if that is one with DTS)
After mine was about 2 years old I purchased a 3 year extended warranty which was a bit over $5000!!
I think the 300 PRO XS is $2K - $3K less and maybe 1-2 mph slower if that. The standard 300 HP 4 stroke is cheaper again than the 300 PRO XS.

...years back, mercury put out a bulletin to its dealers, oem's, etc., that if any new product reaches 5 years of age & still not registered, there would be no warranty. don't know if this is still in affect or not. i realize it wouldn't apply to this engine, but just putting it out there. this goes for sterndrive product as well. and again, i have no idea if this is still true or not...
.
for the best prices on V8 Mercury / MercuryRacing call --> https://www.jacosmarine.com when you're ready to buy any of the following ..
* R-line [ 250R, 300R ]
* Fourstroke [ 300 , 250 , 225 .. ]
* Pro XS [ 300 in stock right now ]
* Verados
note: I am not affiliated in any way with Jacos Marine , this is just a friendly advice
.
.
Jacos also does the installation if needed and will also finance non-race motors [ non R-line ]
they also have the new V-10 motors 350, 400 , 400R
