Ive trying to understand what cables these need. I have the hook ends that would thread to a 33c cable. But a mercury control uses a universal cable with a mercury adapter on the engine side? am i missing something here?

Is there any way to re use my standard merc cables with the stainless loops on the control side? push the pin out and press it back in with the cable in place?

any help would be appriciated.

You should be able to re use the ends.
If your replacing cables look into U flex extreme line of 33 c type. They also offer merc end adapter kits

The Mach Zero cables are also a very good, highly flexible option, if you are replacing cables.

Mach Zero is a u flex cable. Very nice.
