Hey guys I recently came across this mercury lower unit and I don't have much information about it.

The number on the casting is - 1623-6046 Anyone familiar with this lower unit?

I couldn't find much online however I did find this thread - https://www.screamandfly.com/showthread.php?304592-mystery-LWP-lower-unit-ID-1500XS

From my limited understanding from the thread this is a 1500xs lower unit? 20"?

Anyone have any more information?

Also it is cracked. Is this a keeper? Should I repair it?

Thank you !

Sad to say but that one is probably toast.

Water+salt = expands when it dries and cracks casings
Water+freezing = expands and cracks casings

Sad to see a special case like that split but it would take a lot of money to put that back together...if you can even find an aluminum welder who will touch it after its been in so much salt. Most likely if you weld on that the metal will magically disappear while you are tryna weld.
