ran 24 volts to trim unit. works great, trims alot faster.my question is will this harm the trim unit itself or is it fine to leave like this all the time ? thanks...rick

i doubt it's real good for it but no longer than you run the trim it could probably go for ever with it.

The motor is rated at 12V? If so, you will burn it out.. and there not cheap! You are doubling the current going through the windings. That is why it works twice as fast. If the windings are not rated for that amount of current...... eventually it will burn out and go open.

for the short amount of time you are on the button it will be fine.

All electric motors are rated for their duty cycle. A blower motor is continueas so you can run it all the time.
A starter motor is intermittant and has an actual time on and how long it must sit before using it again, time off. So it can cool off.
As long as your not constantly trimming it up and not letting it cool off it should be OK. Time on will heat it up, the longer it's on the hotter it gets. The hotter it gets the longer it needs to cool. Think like a starter motor.

Do youself a big favor and run 24 up on one set of buttons and 12 up and down on another set. Then only use your 24 for your race starts and not for playing. and dont ever hit them at the same time. you will also need another cylonoide for the 24 volt.

like every one else says 24 will take forever to burn up i used to run 48,and more to a 12 cvolt pump in my car with hydrolics, the didnt burn up that quik and i hit the switches alot

Don't they use parallal solnoids instead of one rated for this voltage? I think the idea is if the contacts fuse shut on 1 the other can still open the circuit.
Low riders right?

I used 24volt up on my big REX for 4 yeerz...Integral trim, 1991 2.5 200...I used it on tha river because tha 12 volt trim wuz juss too slow....I used it ever time I take off...I changed mid-sections to rid myself of tha open exhaust, and went to 12 volt, but will soon be returning to 24volt UP...Juss like tha fast trim...OH, I also like 24volt start too...ain't burnt a starter either!!!...will rip a bindix or 2, but ain't burnt a starter...REX
