Another bad sale. Should have known when you cant spell. Bad ram with this ment condition steering. Then dont answer your phone or return message.

You mean you got a bad ram even though he said "ment condition" (I assume he mean "mint condition").
Hope you can work it out with the seller.

looks in good condition, what is it doing that the ram is bad?

Thats when he sold it. Just installed. Ram would not hold boat straight without turning wheel to left constantly. I realize its been a while but its been winter here. He only comes here to sell. wont answer call or respond to message. just a heads up for others.

If there are no external leaks but you gotta keep turning the wheel then it is likely that the quad ring inside the cylinder is bad or the cylinder is out-of-round. Not uncommon with these systems. It could also be the helm, but I doubt it. I know that you don't want to have to fix it because it was supposedly good, but I just wanna let you know it is most likely fixable. Changing that quad ring is easy.
They also don't like to sit for months without fluid in them (dry). If it sat un-installed for a while at his place or yours the seals can shrink and fail. Not saying this scenario is what happened, just saying it is a possibility with these systems.

You can replace the o ring inside it. Racervboat I think has the size, you can get it from a hydraulic supply company. They may have to order it, it is metric.

Ive already fixed the problem. This system was far from mint, The fact that he doesnt respond to phone call or message left is the also the issue.
