I am planning to install a Hotfoot, Rex shifter and blinker trim switch. Installing them seems to be pretty straight forward. I now have OEM Mercury controls with the pigtail.
How is the wiring done now?
Do I need to run each wire from the pigtail to its proper connection point?
It there a wiring kit that can be purchased?
Suggestion?? A better way?

Or chop it and just find the key switch and remove the box.

Don't really need to chop. Split the box in half and all the wiring guts will come out of it. That will yield the wiring harness that the above link takes you to. Key switch hard wired to the harness (that you can then put in your dash) and a bunch of bullet connectors that are for the warning horn, temp, tach, trim sender, trim power+up+down. The trim you can hard wire straight to your trim toggle sw. and the colors will match. The grey wire goes to the tach, the black and the black+yellow go to the kill switch etc. Just put all that stuff in your dash and ditch the control box.

After posting this, I did search for marine key switches with a push choke and many are out there. Was looking for a little better quality the plastic.
looks like the way to go, thanks for the advise!
