A Nizpro supercharged SHO Yamaha weighs 638 lbs with oil. The cowl is raised 4 3/4 inches to make room for the supercharger so the stock cowl is retained with a spacer. I weighed it with a digital scale. My standard weight 22 Talon ( 2200 lbs rigged with engine ) goes from an idle to 100 mph in 17 seconds with the 475 hp version of this engine. Prop is a 32 pitch Pro Max . Altitude here is 1756 feet. Bob Cruse.

Yes I am the crew chief/tuner/engine builder for Super Dave, and his racing does not leave me a lot for time for boating!!!

I sent you a PM Robert.

these SHO'S a getting more and more popular on fast boats in ontario/québec. everybody has had great results with their tuned SHO and a buddy of mine has a supercharged one on a 21 cougar and has hit 120mph with it on the last run, and theres more in it. you could litteraly built yourself a supercharged SHO by finding a good used 200-250hp version for the price of a new 300R. i've been in one. seen it run, they are the real deal.

So heres some info to clear some stuff up. In addition to the information below the motor come with; forged pistons, new valve springs, ported heads, billet rods, and a new lower unit with your choice of a 1.35 or 1.5 ratio.

Like it or hate it, motors like this are the future. A regular 200 SHO can be supercharged to 450, and run with the Mercury 450R for less than half the price. We will see what this motor can do, but surely it will outperform the 450R.

So it's a powerhead build .. not just a bolt-on "kit". Makes sense, as does the gear change. Just for ha-ha's .. what's the ballpark price and delivery time frame ???

Future .. my crystal ball quit working .. lets see if we take back the country, :D or lose it forever, :( in a few weeks .. ehh

What's not to like?

Do you have enough hull to support a 600 pound motor .. :nonod: :nonod: :nonod:

So no matter how much "you" might like to think you'd like one .. reality check says, it ain't happening :smiletest:

(super Blake)
I didn't know you had a P/M and a NPK hooptie .... :D

Be awesome to see one of these on a Tuff. RBT Get on it.:D

633 HP would be fun on a 28 Tuff that runs 110 with a 450R. I don’t think the 24 Tuff can support a 600 lb motor, and will keep my 200XS for a long time for my boat.

Merc V-12 ... 1260 pounds. I'll bet that's dry, hanging from a hook with no cowl ..

When asking a merc company man .. why would you make a motor for such a limited base .. ???? They will tell you (if they are being honest) we make more money off of one of them than we could .. from selling a half a dozen 250 hp / 3.4L Greg G. specials .. :o

I worked @ Yamaha bike dealerships in the early 1980's. They made a good quality product. I doubt that has changed, even in this day and age.
The problem I remember them having is targeting middle of the road markets. The dirt bikes were great .. but not everyone wants to ride a road race bike or a Harley wanna-be, with ape hangers. Even though, I imagine they still sold a lot of each.
If they ever decided to take merc on in the Hi-Po market place, lord knows they have the money to do so .. :smiletest:

Being more of a do-it-yourselfer .. I was serious about the price of kits and even turn-key units ..

I think in fairness the only thing not to like is the weight of them.

Doesn't seem to be as big of an issue for the tunnel/modvp/stv/mirage/skater type hulls, but for the allisons, triads, hydrostreams they are just too heavy.

If my V-21 would tolerate it, I see no reason NOT to switch to a 4 stroke. But, the only one I saw rigged with a 4 stroke I read took the 4 stroke back off.

Probably going to have to buy a bigger boat just to get a newer motor

moatorbotin I get it. But I also understand the boats were talking aboot supporting with new, lightweight motors have been out of production for over a decade, and they're a niche market at that. My friends bought a drag rotator years ago. It, a long with some 280 rotators had been on mercs shelf for almost 3 years. That kinda tells you where the demand is. The good news is there's still plenty of good 2.5 stuff to put together and build strong motors. I've seen a few modified promaxes hurt some 280 guys feelings. :D If I were in your shoes, that's the direction I would go.
