What can anyone tell me about the 87 V-King hull? Are they still as good a quality as the older hulls? Are they as fast? Light? I am debating between an older pre-80 hull or this 87'.

HydroStream? Canadian Edition?

Check for soaked coring using the rubber mallet test. Soaked/rotten coring can lead to power hooking which seriously hampers speed. I don't know if year is actually too much of a factor.
Lots of 'Streams around with bad cores/transoms/floors and lots of good ones. My '85 still has original floor, stringers, core and transom and is still holding out quite well.

Yes, I am talking about a Hydrostream, but I am not sure if it is a Canadian edition or not. In 87' were the V-Kings only made in Canada? I've tried looking on the IHR web site, but I keep getting that Netpoint site instead. I guess my ISP is still referencing the IP address for the old site. At least that is what Netpoint is telling me. Suppose to fixed soon.

One more thing that i have gathered from the hydrostreams ive seen here in Canada are that the Canadian Edition boats do not have the "Hydrostream" symbol on them, they are still hydrostreams but the nam "Canadian Edition" is on them no hydrostream to be found, my voodoo is a hydrostream but is a "Canadian Edition" (1992) they were built in Hastings Ont. , please correct me if i am wrong, but just from what ive seen this seems to be what ive come to

i bought a 1987 v-king brand new from hydrostram, it was not made in canada.....i have owned two vector's / one varmint / one v-king.......as for as performance, the v-king is the the winner hands down, i was drag racing my streams 1/4 mile, the v-king is fastest.......i sold mine in 1993 & at that time it was still in mint condtion / if taken care of they are a quality boat.....if the boat your talking about has been kept dry, v-king is the way to go!

1989 v-king is the best and fastest hull they have ever made!

Not a good indication of a non rotted core.

Search Hydrostream re-core, and you will find that even Streams that were never rigged, sometimes have rotted cores.

If I remember correctly what someone else found out, Hydrostreams were hauled to the dealerships un-covered and left sitting out at the dealerships.

I have had quite a few Hydrostreams the best v-king i had was a 86.
Some will say they like the older ones.
My 86 you did not have to drive the crap out of it and would come out very quick and take a set with no bounce.
