What does it take to put a 225 ProMax powerhead on a 280 mid?

If I understand what I can find searching the only option that is a direct bolt on is a 260.

So what parts / modifications are required for other 2.5 power heads?

Its mostly the cooling system differences from thermostats vs non. Its covered in detail in this thread here, especially towards the last few pages being the latest and easiest option

How about just exchanging the 1 piece exhaust plate for a PM 2 piece? And running a PM powerhead with stock thermostats and poppit?

What else would have to be done?

you might be able to do this i dont know but the 260 tuner wont bolt up to the two piece plate iirc. I cant say for sure i havent messed around with mine yet. Im running the bass mid for the first round

if you put the PM powerhead and two piece plate on the 280 mid section you'll be good to go no other modifications needed.

What about the tuner?

Leave it attached when you pull it off the current mid. The 280 mid section doesn't know what tuner and adapter is sitting on top of it. If you simply put a 2pc plate on top of an offshore mid it is the same up top as the fishing style mid.

Thats what I thought. If you swap out the one piece plate you also lose the hipo tuner

Correct, you will not be able to run the 280 tuner as the bolt pattern is different. There are "hipo" tuners that will bolt up to the two piece plate tho.

The big oval tuner. The promax tuner iirc is the same as the 200 its square
