View Full Version : Motor just lost power - What's the warrantee period on a Rapair stator?

I installed a Rapair stator on my 245 last year. The other day I was cruising at about 80 and the motor lost power. Had just enough to stay on plane till I got to the dock. After that it wouldnt get on plane. Idles great, even in gear. Will wing up to any rpm in neutral. Nail the throttle (in gear) and it sounds like its running on 3 cylinders. Got good compression, timing is correct, electric fuel pump is working, timing light on each plug wire shows spark in every hole. I tested it on the hose with the timing light, reving it up to 4000. Everything points at the high speed windings in the stator. Need to ohm it out. If it is the stator, whats the deal? Its got maybe 15 hrs on it. I plan to pull and clean the carbs and I have a spare stator and switchboxes. Anyone know the warrantee period if it is the stator?
Thanks,

Email the shop, and we can send you a copy of the warranty statement. It's just something that's not needed very often,

O/B Dude, NEVER, never, oh yeah never rev up a motor in neutral above about 1500 rpm. You are risking tearing apart your powerhead and besides it will tell you nothing.

I found the problem.......
The float needle seat vibrated loose. It was getting eough fuel to keep the float bowl full at idle but under any kind of load it was running dry. I am glad I checked all the ignition components while trying to find the problem. I found the trigger ohmed out of spec and has some corroded wires. I have good compression and didnt see any scoring on the cylinders. Low fuel in one carb means low lube in 2 cylinders. Glad that problem is fixed. :)

Had the exact same thing happen on my 200 last December or January.... Seems to be more common than one would hope... As I remember another forum member had the problem, and melted down a piston from it.
What is the general consensus from the carb gurus - is there a grade of loctite that is gas resistant, but won't bond in like jbweld, and if so, are there any problems in using it?

I believe all lock-tite strengths are impervious to fuel. I usually use red or blue and have never had a problem getting the part loose again. Man, I'm glad this issue is over so i can get back on the lake.
