Welcome to scream and fly. Lots of good guys on here. Can you post a pic of your motor and exhaust?

I have a smooth back offshore mid and there is a plate i can bolt in or take out of the snout to quiet things down. Im not sure if all have this or not but ive read ridge back mids do not come with this. That said, cant be hard to add this for a fab shop

The upper slot / slots / hole / is the idle relief port. Without it, the motor wouldn't have enough pressure to send the exhaust down and out of the prop hub.

If it's too loud (no such thing) :D Then chances are it has a cut inner can or a tuner that circumvents the exhaust from going around an internal baffle (mostly above the water line) to dampen the music ... err ... sound ... ;)

You can make it quieter, but you will need to separate the powerhead from the mid section .. then change some stuff around inside the can ..
