I'm headed to look at a 300 Promax, 1998 model year. Anything to watch out for/ common issues? What would a guy expect to pay for a good clean freshwater 300 Promax these days? This guy wants 11250 for the 87 checkmate starflite, motor and trailer. My plan would be to put the Promax on my checkmate starliner and put my motor on the starflite and off it. Nothing wrong with my old evinrude, just want more power and speed....

Sportmaster Lower? I sold one super clean for maybe 8-8,500 a few years ago with a sportmaster. Don't remember exactly. It's a gas guzzler far beyond any 2.5 I've had including 280.

yes, more

Surprised that would be the case with it being same displacement and an efi, but I don't doubt it...

like everyone said. Its fuel hungry but pretty reliable. They usually go for 8500-10k depending on conditions.
