View Full Version : running 2 thrust washers

on one of the props im trying out. any harm in this? its on a 28 big ear merc and it goes too far on the splines for one only. if i keep it, should i have it rehubbed or keep using 2?thanks, steven

Don't know if I would use 2. Try to find 1 that is thicker. They make all different types. If you use 2 than only one is on the taper and the other one is probably spinning and that isn't good for the prop shaft.

You could drill it out so it will slide all the way on to the washer.

I've run ( 2 ) without any problem but I made me a line up shaft to center the washers, then drilled and pinned them and chucked the unit in a lathe to just feather the outside to make sure they were the same o.d.
