Seems slow, has the engine been tuned for the elevation?

Also, have you ever run the boat at lower elevation? I had a 260 at Lake Tahoe once, really had to lean it out to get rpm.

It may be a Kevlar boat but is it full of the old wood based Eliminator interior etc.

You might try getting in touch with DCB (Dave's Custom Boats) in El Cajon, CA he rigged and sold some of the fastest Daytona's around.

prop shaft even with the bottom at 14" back. I would try raising the motor first

i have not ran at lower levels. the power head came from kentucky does this mean i have to adjust it for high altitude? i can raise the motor and try it. maybe i am not running it long enough at full throttle to climb higher. how long does it take at wot to get top speed?
