Going to begin deconstruction and rebuild on a Viper after the first of the year. Reading the various threads on rebuilds from guys that have already done this, I'm looking for a list of what tools and supplies to get that will make the job of removing old core, wood and grinding fiberglass go as well as this ugly, itchy process can be.........thanks.

I used an oscillating tool to get under the core that was still good and been using a grinder with 24grit to grind old glass.

by oscillating, you mean like what they call a multi-tool with the flat blade?

A 4" grinder and an air chisel is my favorite tools

Lancelot disk on a 5" grinder will rip through most anything. Just be carful with it.

Take it easy with metal pry bars and such you could cause stress cracks on the outer shell.

Full face respirator and combination organic vapour+P100 cartridges. Great for both grinding dust and fiberglass/solvent vapors. Zero dust in your eyes.

If you can justify it, a small woodworking dust collector with a 4-6" duct snaked into wherever you're grinding really helps with containing the dust. You can buy a 1-1.5hp unit from companies like Jet and Grizzly for only a couple hundred dollars.

Shop vac and a box fan! Variable speed oscillating tool.

Bag the shop vac or the filters plug super fast. Talcum powder works well for keeping glass dust out of your exposed skin like the wrist area. I tried every single type of rubber glove and found pure latex to be the most resilient to resin and acetone. Vinyl is the worst, nitrile is the middle ground. A half inch hand held belt grinder is nec to get into the small nooks. I did use the sanding pad on the oscillator which works but eats the pads up like crazy. A five gallon pail of acetone is a wise buy from the beginning. You will be using it for many things.

process wise take small bites at a time.
