Anyone have any suggestions and pics of where to put mushroom style cleats on a RiverRocket deck so that they fit well and look good? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean by mushroom cleat, but there are some pretty cool pop up cleats that are dang near flush mount....If you are truly paranoid about it then send them out and have them powder coated the same color as your boat. Mount them anywhere, you'll hardly notice them.

These are mushroom cleats. I'm trying to figure out a place to put them so they are in a good spot to tie the boat up and where the deck isn't too thin. That's why I was just looking for some insight from fellow members.

Tom,
I saw someone had them mounted in the cockpit along the inside of the gunnel.
It looked cool since it didn't interrupt the lines of the boat.
Also, it would be easy access to this area in order to strengthen and mount.
I have a set on my boat....but the Laser is way different. :D
Here's a picture I borrowed off the forum to make a crude drawing of what I am talking about.

I have them and they sit flush and look cool sitting still but when I run they pop up and rattle.. I carry clear tape just to keep them down. I have posted them on another thread.... I am not at work now, thank God!!! so I can't post pictures but if you find the link about Navigation lights on an Xtreme STV you will see where i mounted them.

Kevin you're not supposed to stick your head in the gelcoat pail. Wear a mask already LOL.
These are the mushroom style, the regualr pop ups require a lot more cutting and this deck on this boat is thin..like too thin for my liking. Probably won't have it long.

... http://www.rickracers.com/images/Gaffrig/Gaffrig%20Cleats.jpg . There are also some that are very small and inobtrusive, they have a piece that attaches to the rope that just clips on. I can come up with more details tomorrow from the shop. Bezels are available for most of them too. I would definitely either purchase or make backing plates for the inside as well.

Those are the mushroom cleats we are using. I just can't seem to figure out where to mount the front set without them looking horrible.

thats the way the whole deck on this stupid boat is...super thin, but not just think, weak. The back we got taken care of, but the front, I can't even lean on or it will start cracking.

From a previous discussion I changed my mind on pop up cleats to the pin type. I still have to reach them so not much advantage to pop ups(mine were going to be pneumatic). They are taller than the pin kind too. I'm making my own so can't suggest maker.
On the strength issue. If you use a back up plate and bevel the edges there should be no problem. I'm assuming your tie ups to be like mine. A resturant stop here or there. The boat isn't left unattended or in high wake areas so not much is needed.
If your very weery of the strength issue then use extremely light rope or rope with a "fuse" in it. Let the rope break first.
The bach coaming area is pretty thick, wood filled? I had a lifting ring on it. You could do that up front but it isn't a very large spread.
You should be able to slide on the front deck spreading your weight out. It's when it's concentrated under a foot it makes that heart rending noise.

Jeff,
The boat completly bare except the wiring harness and gauges (no seats, the insert was out of it, everything out) weighs 630. I have to pistion myself across the deck from edge to edge because it flexs so much.
The rear part of the boat has enough reinforcements that we were fine. Everyplace on the front flexs when I breathe on it. I just don't want them to look stupid and get ripped out sitting at the dock. Any photgraphs where I could put them? I'm tempted to just glass another board behind them and make a plate up like Wayne said.
