I have a really nice Bullet 20XD with a 225 Pro Max. I lost # 4 piston over the weekend. I'm not that crazy about the boat anymore so I'm wondering should I sell it as is or rebuild it? I may may fall in love with it again if I send the powerhead out to some of the experts on here and bump up the horses. What say y'all?

Rebuild motor whether you keep boat or not. Value of boat with fresh Promax will far exceed value of boat without motor plus value of puked motor. Never know, you might fall in love with boat again.

I concur with rock. A well built 225 Promax is music to the ears and soul. Absolutely nothing compares to it.

Modified 225 Pro Max is our most popular build we do @ JSRE, have 2 in here now …

Those are great boats. Spend a few dollars with Jay or one of the other pros on here and you will love it all over again. If nothing else, as Rock said, a bullet with a fresh Pro Max will sell overnight for top dollar.

I've seen a lot worse. Cut both heads and bump up your compression a bit as long as you run good fuel.

My own view would be clouded as ive owned a 95 20xd Bullett since new so im going to be partial ;) ive owned 2 more Bullet since then 1 was a 17 footer, ive also had a lot of different motors on this boat up to a 300X and down also had 3 Allisons, a STV and various other rigs thru the years But i kept this one i like how it ran handled and fished not to mention pulling my kids and all there friends around on a tube or skis its 27 years old and looks great still it does need new seats and carpet though not torn up just like me showing some wear (76 years old) there is no other boat ive owned i liked better just my .02, as for heads lots of times you can buy more for less then what some shops charge to cut them after i went out of the rebuilding business i had a ton of parts ive been selling off and 23 sets of heads was in the pile ive been selling then for 125 a set plus ship
