I'm torquing the front half of my 2.4 on and the book is telling me 17.5 ft/lbs. Is this correct?
The reason I ask is the torque for the in-line 6 (right beside it) says 85 in/lbs.

Damn, it looks like I have to take this apart a bit.
What book are you using Talon?
Does it have a Merc part number? If it does, I will go out and order one. This Seloc manual SUCKS!!!!!!!
While I have your attention, I torqued the rod bolts to 30 ft/lbs with locktite 262 on the threads. My book said nothing about lube anywhere either, so I didn't put any. I was talking to my merc mechanic and he was saying to lube under the head.
Is lube required?

i never lube underthe head, not that the tech you talked to is wrong it sounds like he wants a smooth torqueing, but i dont want any lube near my rod bolts loctite which is the red 272
the number for the 2.4 manual i hve is at the bottom right on the cover....90-815595 1189

Thanks Talon, I wonder why the Seloc book is so far off.
17.5 ft/lbs just didn't sound right to me.
The 262 locktite i'm using is also red, and called "permanent". It's what I use on stuff that i really don't want to come apart. I'm going to check on the 272 to see what the difference is.
I'll be ordering that book Monday.
Thanks again.
