So bought new v8 mercury
Running 2.2 to 1.75 below pad
With 24 brovo prop. Seems to fall off pad taking abrupt left turn from tork?
So of If I understand bow too high
Causing no pad surface to lie on
So if I would raise motor would bring bow down ??
Or find prop with less lift
All so hear this motor will not redline
With too small of pitch computer control ed
To limit load and rpms ??
I need help hear
Old motor Hammer throttle smooth as silk
No chime straight.to 74 mph what happened

Hi bud. What kind of boat? Need more info from you. Does it hook when you let off the gas real quick or when does it do it? Mine will hook if I’m up high and then get out of it quickly before trimming down a bump or two.

Yes but while trimming to upper 3/4 is when this happens. It's 21 foot dual console.stratos 701
6 inch hydraulic bobs jackplate

Any chance that you are trimming too much - too soon? Some hulls need to build up speed before you can feed in more trim.

Try this... get it rolling pretty well and go to wide-open throttle when you only have about a quarter trim or so. Hold at wide open throttle and bump the trim and give it a minute and then bump it again and give it a minute and bump it again and give it a minute and it will probably tell you how much trim that it wants. With a V-8 sitting on back, and the extra weight, you might not need to trim the boat up as much as you used to.

Also, you can check the stratos forums over on Bass Boat Central and the setup section. There are some pretty good folks over on that side when it comes to bass boats.

What speed are you running when she hooks? If you over trim and the prop loses bite, it will drop the nose and hook left. Same thing as me getting out of the gas too quickly.

Where is your motor height on the new Merc vs your old OMC? You got a water pressure gauge? Low water pickups?

I would NEVER count on a motor stopping trimming at the place I need it or not going high enough to keep me from hooking. That is something that you have to feel. Have you had the boat for a while? Years? Sounds like you gotta get seat time all over again.

What does it feel like at 60? 64? 66? 68? Rock solid or greasy?

Take it easy getting to know this thing. It's a different rig now.

What motor do you have now?

i think you need to come up on motor and less trim. I think you’re over trimming and blowing out.

I would say less trim and lower the motor. A Torque Master lower unit on that motor should be around 2.5-3.5 inches below pad. If he is blowing out and hooking then he has the motor to high and to much trim. He also needs to watch his water pressure with the motor that high and trimmed all the way out. Just a learning process with the new motor.
