Snap on had a tool sale out at the Ag Center this afternoon. About 6 or 8 dealers and great prices.
Actually just looking because on my income I can barely afford Craftsman. Found a neat set of Commemorative Corvette Screwdivers with all five different logos. Perfect gift for the Chevy dealer Son-in-Law who spends more on dinner than I do on a car. Vette logo stuff is high on his list of collectibles. 30% off.
Best deal though was a CT3450 1/2" Cordless Impact Wrench Kit with 2 batteries, case, charger and light for $350.00 Wrench 1 battery and charger list for $420. Couldn't pass it up. Can't justify it. "Needed it". Yeah.
Already treid it out. Lug nuts on my trailer put on with a CP impact wrench in good condition. This sucker took them off like they weren't even finger tight. Gonna find a permanent place in my truck.

I wish they'd have a sale around here somewhere. I really like the Snap on stuff, but just ain't willin' to pay the price. The problem is see with it is that with the risk of all their financing to mechanics that may or may not pay, all of their prices have to be high enough to cover the risk, and of course the cost of the on spot delivery. I'd probably have driven to St. Augustine for a shot at a bunch of their stuff at 30% off.

I wish they would have a sale around here too. Snap on is the $hit! I use to make a living with my tools. Still use them a lot. Sockets, wrenches, and screw drivers are the best quality I have seen. I do have some Urea tools too. Not much on specialty tools, but good quality and price. Set of std wrenches from 5/16" to 1 1/8" for under 140 bucks. Polished just like Snap on with thick flats and a thin box. Owned by the guy who owned Proto and made in Mexico. Any one else use these?

Over the years i have collected alot of tools from Snap-On. I don't buy anything else unless it is not made by them, like special tools. The quality is the best period. If you do break one they are there to fix it. No stopping work and driving to sears and hoping they have it in stock to replace it. My dealer has an inventory of over a quarter million dollars. You talkin about a kid in a candy store. Anymore I go in that truck and really have a hard time finding something I don't have though. If you want something close to the Snap-On tools you should go buy the Kobalt brand from Lowe's they are made buy Snap-on and are of very good quality.

I didn't know that about the Kobalt stuff Greg. I look at em whenever I go to Lowe's, but they don't have quite the feel. I'm real heavy on Craftsman stuff and for my hobby type use they're fairly adequate. Even the pawn shops around here are sky high on the SnapOn, but like y'all said, there ain't nothin' like em. I just wish we didn't have to pay for the dirt bags that skip without payin'. One of the tool truck guys told me a long time ago that Snap on could probably lower the price 30% if they could maintain the same volume without any charge business. If they were in stores instead of delivering, I'd guess a lot more than that.

We have gone through 7 dealers in 12 years. I haven't seen a Snap-On dealer in over 2 years! Can't get them to come by and now have a drawer full of broken tools.
My 1/4 stuff is particularly prone to breaking teeth. Recently I have had to buy Crapsman and am impressed with the 1/4 ratchet in the polished series. I have bought a few sockets from Kobalt and am pleased. The Crapsman wrenches just don't hold up though.
I have even gone to Harbor Freight for some stuff like dead blow hammers and brass hammers etc.
If it is a tool that is prone to breaking and no warranty like a punch or chiesel Sears does fine. My 2 cents worth.

Pronounced youray.....if you have not tried these, find a dealer. I put then right next to Snap on as far as feel and quality. Especially the wrenches. Sockets are OK too. My bigger set of wrenches and sockets are Williams, 3/4" drive sockets and wrenches up to 2 5/16" I think is the larges I have. They make a good product too.
The story behind Urea is the same guy that owned proto sold out to stanley. He started another tool co. and all the stuff is made in Mexico. Life time warrenty. Close to the price of crapsman, but damn near Snap on quality. I have yet to spread a wrench or break a socket. And I am rough on my stuff.

I f I was makin' a living with them, I'd have mostly Snap-On. For semi-retired hobby stuff workin' on my boat and maybe helping a neighbor every now and then, Sears and Ripoff's is fine. It was fun lookin' through all the stuff though. And had to get myself a toy since it was on sale. Saved ALL THAT MONEY. Learnin' from Pattie.
Did actually buy something for work. Every now and then I need a 9/16 allen wrench and need to lean on it to remove upper platens from 500,000 lb concrete testers. Got one to fit a 1/2 rachet or breaker. Gotta sneak it into expenses somehow. It was $25. Looks like and priced like it oughta be sold in a jewelry store. but sweet stuff.
