I have a reed plate from a 2.4 BP efi with 7 pedal reeds and I matched them up to a 7 pedal carb manifold. I have heard that on an efi 2.5 people use a 1 inch spacer for more performance. This reed plate is is about 1 inch and matches up pretty well so I am wondering if there is a performanc gain to be had here??

so you want to bolt your carbs and intake to the EFI reed plate and then bolt all that onto the front half of the block

hhhhmmmm interesting, i dont believe they've talked about that here before but a guy i know that ownes a shop in town did it to a bridgeprt carbed like you want to and said it helped, however i never saw the set-up and never saw it run so cant answer your question based on what ive seen, only what i had heard

I am actually doing it on my next carb motor. You will haev to fab up a bracket to hold the shift & throttle cables. The longer distance between the carb & the entrance to the reed cage is supposed to smooth the flow and increase velocity of the intake charge. I don't know if this is actually the case but I have heard of decent gains on bottom end & mid-range. It is a good idea we will have to see if it pans out in reality.

I guess I could try it and if it doesn't work I can always put it back the way it's supposed to be. Should be interesting.

ive heard of using carb spacers and putting a larger roller wheel on the linkage, heard it worked well also

Dropp'in tha velosity behind tha carbz are tha reel draw back wit carbs,,,I have put 1" spacers behind tha carbs, and found that making the spacer have a kinna venturi shape gave more ov a performance increese, but only on low end/mid range...I have noticed that sum ov tha Carb boats runn'in in Pro Carb have tha spacer plates behind tha intake...Ask'in how it effected jetting, and all I ever got wuz funny lookz...I run 1" spacers between tha air box and tha manifold on lazer injection, and it iz worth 2- 10ths in 400'...Y can actually feel tha diffrence in punch in tha seet ov ya pantz...In my way ov thank'in, don't do nutt'in U Kan't undo!!...Try it, never leern nutt'in wit out try'in stuff....each motor iz like a woman, dey all got a mind ov ther own, and all perform in differnt wayz...so, what workz for Joe Blow, may not work fer Yo mota...my 2 centz, REX:cool:
