Hello, I am reaching out for possible help with my sons 1996 Promax 225. on a Mirage 18 ( not my first post just forgot everything and had to re register )

what I know
Compression 130 all 6
Spark Great
starts and idles amazing
top rpm with 28p over 7K

BUT it has a flat spot over 1k for a few seconds then the power hits and its runs great
Every time the throttle is back down and re applied the spot exist no matter what the RPM

I herd the TPS but can I test that without a merc test tool ?
I also thought sure sounds like reeds but no idea how to verify that

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

You can kinda test the TPS without a merc test tool. Just measure resistance with an ohm meter and compare to one (maybe someone on here) who has one that runs good. I don't know that the merc book lays out what it should be.

This can test if it is good at specific positions but not necessarily a smooth transition from closed to WOT. If theres a hiccup or delay at a certain point it could cause issues that you will never see with an ohms test.

Shoot, I've never heard of Murrieta...Hopefully you figure it out, if not I'll have to make a stop with my merc tester next time I drive down that way...
